Professor Berman's Federal Sentencing Updates:

 
An informal, 90-minute discussion covering key developments in federal sentencing with Professor Douglas Berman of the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University. The key focus in this program will be the U.S. Supreme Court's recent ruling in Rita.

Prof. Berman is a nationally renowned sentencing scholar, as well as the sole creator and author of the widely-read and widely-cited web log, Sentencing Law and Policy.

The webcast will include an online Question / Answer session conducted within a moderated chat room.

MCLE CREDIT:

1.0 Hours Pre-Approved for California.  (AFDA is an approved MCLE provider in California)

All attendees will receive a Uniform Certificate of Attendance. For California attorneys, this Certificate will reflect pre-approved MCLE credit. Attorneys outside California may submit the Certificate to their state bars in requesting MCLE credit for this program.  In order to minimize costs, AFDA will not apply directly to states for MCLE credit.


PRESENTATIONAL FORMAT:

Informal interview conducted over live streaming audio, with accompanying text posted to a viewing screen. The text will include links to PDF files containing recent district and circuit court opinions on federal sentencing, as well as any noteworthy articles and other documents addressing recent federal sentencing developments. Also included are links to specific sections of Professor Berman's blog, Sentencing Law and Policy, which address key rulings and analysis that will be discussed during the audio webcast.
